All parts of the plant can be examined for the presence of moulds. This shows whether the issue is indeed a mould or there is another disease or pest, such as bacteria or nematodes.
Molecular tests can also be used to determine the type more precisely. For this purpose, parts of the plant are cultured to assess which mould is present.
